The Problem
In 2004, a General Motors (GM) plant manager expressed frustration to his KIRKS Account Manager. They were using outdated equipment and ill-fitting forklifts to transport supplies and equipment throughout their plant. They also needed a reliable remanufacturing resource for all their mobile equipment.
The Solution
KIRKS partnered with General Motors to design the Eagle Tugs a Stand/Sit Tugger for production. This custom solution became a GM Standard in 2005. KIRKS also partnered with General Motors in to create a Repairable Assets Program to reduce the maintenance cost of their mobile equipment fleet at local SE Michigan plants.
The Result
With significant cost savings for GM, KIRKS remanufactures electrical, hydraulic, steering, and suspension components on a wide range of forklift brands eliminating the expense of purchasing of new replacements.
The KIRKS delivery fleet reduces costs for GM in waste-management, human resources, and repair turnaround with our core pickup program from all local GM plants delivering remanufactured components daily.
What do the cost savings look like? At this writing, KIRKS has saved seven (7) GM plants more than $800,000 over the past five years.
